Our People

Our success stems directly from the enthusiasm and experience of the people who together make up our strong team.

We have an excellent team of qualified artisans and support staff and make a point of ensuring that we retain such people, and with them, their valuable skills and experience.

Managing Director
Paul Collins
Paul has been working in the maintenance, rebuilding and servicing of tractors for twenty five years. His wealth of experience helps us provide the best support and back-up service for customers.

His knowledge and skill has filtered throughout the company and each day, Paul shares his knowledge with the team at ITS, working with staff in the workshop, and providing leadership, supervision and inspiration.

Following his apprenticeship at Ford Motor Company in the UK, Paul worked there as a mechanic until the exciting opportunity arose to travel overland from England to Cape Town.  Travelling over several months through Europe, Egypt, the Sudan, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Zambia, Paul eventually arrived in Victoria Falls in 1980.  He was so impressed by Zimbabwe that he decided at that moment to settle here - and has never looked back.

He was granted permanent residence, and worked in various farming districts as a mechanic.
Then in 1983 he moved to Chinhoyi, where he worked for Duly’s on Ford and Deutz tractors.  Moving to Harare, Paul joined Tractor and Equipment, part of the Rio Tinto Group, as Workshop Manager.  The company had the agency for the Deutz-Fahr brand, and Paul began his long, close relationship with it, which included visiting the headquarters in Germany.  In 1995, with much valuable experience behind him, he started his own company - and Independent Tractor Services was born.

Paul is known for his willingness, eagerness even, to get his hands dirty in the workshop and get involved with the nitty gritty, which has much endeared him to staff and customers alike.  He is no “ivory tower” manager, and is mostly seen dashing about the spacious Chawara Road ITS premises, keeping his finger on the pulse, and indeed, on the machinery.

Parts Supervisor
Aaron Aaron

Aaron Aaron has been with ITS for over 10 years, and supervises the stores department team.

A Zimbabwean born in Harare in 1972, Aaron is of Malawian descent.  He completed O Levels at Kuwadzana High, and joined Tractor and Equipment, a Division of the Tinto Group, as Workshop Clerk, and was then promoted to Storeman.

He was with the company for 5 years, for half of which, Paul Collins was working for the same  organisation.  Aaron joined the ITS team in 1998, first as an  administrator.  A year later he was promoted to his current position.

Workshop Manager
Nick Eliou

Nick Eliou has clocked up 40 years of experience in agricultural equipment.  Nick completed his apprenticeship at Duly’s Power Farming Division, where he then worked for 22 years, until the division was sold to William Bain.

From 1976 to 1995 while at Duly’s Nick was in the field service, travelling all over Zimbabwe as well as to Mozambique, Zambia and Malawi, servicing and overhauling tractors and other agricultural equipment as Workshop Foreman, and then later in the same capacity at William Bain.

Nick is very well experienced in the Deutz brand, having finished his apprenticeship working on Deutz equipment, at which time, Duly’s were the local franchise holders for Deutz.  Nick’s wealth of experience is a major asset for ITS.

He offers expert advice and can find ingenious solutions to problems in the workshop.

Finance and Administration Manager Cecil Johnson
Cecil Johnson worked in Government service from 1956 to 1982, culminating his career as a civil servant as the Acting Under Secretary in the Ministry of Lands & Resettlement.

He subsequently joined Estate Agents Knight Frank and Rutley as Manager of the Commercial Property Management Department. He was later promoted to Associate status, retiring after 18 years’ service in 2001.

Joining ITS, he enthusiastically took up the reigns of financial control and administration.
